Today was a travel day, but before leaving Seward we reunited with Janet and Nina whom we met in Watson Lake and Teslin, and Joan and Don whom we met in Fairbanks! We drove the 187 miles from Seward (the Seward Highway) to Ninilchik (the Sterling Highway) on the west side of the Kenai Peninsula. As usual it was a spectacular drive with beautiful mountains and valleys, and rivers, and streams, and waterfalls, and the Cook Inlet (which was like glass today.) We loved Moose Pass, AK which had a water operated grinding wheel and a sign that says, "If you have an axe to grind, do it here."
We checked in to the Country Boy Campground in Ninilchik, which is fairly basic parking lot gravel style, but has full (30 amp therefore primitive according to Steve) hook-ups. They allow RV washing, so Steve washed the RV and the Jeep before we even got set up! The campsite restaurant is called "Up Chuck's" and the laundry is called "Rub Your Duds." What more can I say?

We took a ride around the area and checked out J & J Charters where the guys are scheduled to go halibut fishing tomorrow. This is a beautiful location--right on Cook Inlet with mountains across the water. We are hoping that there is great halibut fishing when the guys go out.

It is still cool (in the 50's) and occasionally rainy. We are beginning to feel the effects of being without the sun for many days. Those who know me know that about 3 days without sun is all it takes to make me grumpy!
Good luck fishing. BBE
