After getting fuel this morning, we left Stewart in the rain at 59 degrees. We are in Vanderhoof, B.C., the geographical center of British Columbia, at a full hook-up campground and we have phone service for the first time in many days! As we got further south, the wilderness gave way to more rural and urban settings. We saw fewer mountains and more small towns with fast food places and supermarkets and traffic lights. I think we have left our wilderness experiences behind, but we have memories that will last forever.
We did see some things of interest today. We stopped in the tiny Native American village of Gitanyow to admire one of the largest concentrations of standing totem poles in B.C.
In Houston, we saw the World's Largest Fly Fishing Rod-60 feet long, made of anodized aluminum, with a 21 inch fluorescent "Skykomish Sunrise" fly.
