June 17, 2012 Lake Louise and Moraine Lake
The day started at 50 degrees with clouds so we decided to head to Lake Louise before the rain set in. It is such a beautiful drive from Banff to Lake Louise! The mountains are magnificent! We had a nice lunch, finally found an open post office, then spent time wandering around the lake and the beautiful hotel.

After Lake Louise, we drove to the equally as beautiful Moraine Lake, which is higher in the mountains and colder and had more snow. After viewing the lake, shopping in the Trading Post, and climbing around on the rocks and logs, we took the Bow Valley Parkway back to Banff. We were fortunate to see several elk and a juvenile black bear along the road side.

It was a very nice but tiring day, and after happy hour we all were ready for dinner and an early bedtime. It is not easy to go to bed early because it is still light outside at 10 P.M.!
