Seattle

August 14-Seattle

We arrived in downtown Seattle about 10 A.M.  First on the agenda was to see the Seahawks Stadium, which is impressive.  Then we parked the car in a public lot that cost us $20.00 for 4 1/2 hours.

We started at the Pike Place Market and were entertained by the chanting and fish throwing.  We wandered through the market a ways before the crowds and the noise began to get us down, so we headed for the peacefulness of the waterfront.

Ready for fish throwing.

Seattle's waterfront is very nice with shops, restaurants, fountains, historic signs, and lots of interesting people.  Something new since we were last here is the Seattle Giant Wheel.  It is a huge ferris wheel similar to the London Eye.  It sits right by the water and has a spectacular views of Puget Sound and the Seattle skyline.  Gary and Barb rode it, but Steve and I opted out.  He doesn't like heights and I don't like ferris wheels.

We had a nice fish and chips lunch at the Fisherman's Bar.  We sat outside by the ferris wheel and shared our french fries with a seagull.

Then it was time for a harbor tour on the Spirit of Seattle, where I enjoyed a beautiful and tasty bloody Mary.  The harbor tour was interesting, the water was calm, and the day was warm and sunny.  We all enjoyed it very much.

After collecting the car and figuring out how and where to pay the exorbitant  fee, we found our way to Seattle Center where there are several museums and, of course, the Space Needle.  While Barb and Gary went up top of the Needle, Steve and I explored the area and enjoyed a great session of people- watching while listening to a mariachi band on the lawn.

The trip home was nerve wracking as we had to navigate a detour and travel on 2 different Interstate highways in the rush hour traffic.  We were really tired and stressed by the time we got back to the campground.  We just haven't got used to all these people yet after being up north.

Steve and I drove back to Bellvue about 8 PM to pick up my computer at the Apple Store.  I guess you know we slept well after such a busy, hectic day.
