Watson Lake

June 23, 2012    WATSON LAKE

After our long rest, we left the beautiful park and headed for Watson Lake.  Less than a mile from the park entrance we saw our first buffalo, and we saw many more during the day.  We also saw black bears and sheep along the way.  We stopped for fuel in Contact Creek which boasts that their gas is much cheaper than that in Watson Lake--but it was still $5.17 per gallon!

We camped at the Downtown RV Park, which is really just a dusty parking lot but it is walking distance to everything we wanted to see here.  After setting up and having lunch, we went to the Northern Lights Centre to see a program on space and the Northern Lights.  It was interesting but doesn't take seeing the Lights off of my bucket list.

After the show, we went to see the famous Signpost Forest and added two old Florida license plates to a pole in the 4th row on the right from the entrance steps.  It is amazing how many different signs are posted there by people from all over the world.  It is said that there are more than 72,000 signs now!

I took a walk around Wye Lake Park, but did not take Corky swimming there because we were told that there are leeches in the water!
