Resurrection Bay

July 13, 2012    Resurrection Bay..Seward

Seward Harbor
It was a cold and rainy day to be out on the water, but we had a great time on our cruise around Resurrection Bay anyway!

We were hoping to see wildlife and we certainly did! Majestic eagles, adorable sea otters, speedy Dall porpoise, huge humpback whales, cute puffins, and sea lions galore all made appearances.  In spite of, or maybe because of, the weather the snowy mountains, the emerald green water, the glaciers, and the multitude of waterfalls were gorgeous.   Our guide, Ranger Jim of the National Park Service, was very knowledgeable, and the Star of the Northwest had a warm, comfortable cabin where we retreated between cold, wet trips outside to view and photograph the animals and scenery.  It was a great trip!

Stellar sea lions
Because of the weather, Steve and Gary have cancelled their fishing reservations for tomorrow and will try again when we get to the other side of the peninsula.  We are hoping for better weather there.

Happy campers
